Archbishop Spyridon Convenes Archdiocesan Council

NEW YORK - His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, will convene the Archdiocesan Council tomorrow morning for their regular Winter meeting at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan. In preparation for the Archdiocesan Council meeting tomorrow, the Most Reverend Members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America convened this morning, February 25, at the offices of the Archdiocese. The Executive Committee of the Archdiocesan Council also held their meeting this afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30.

The Archdiocesan Council Meeting will take place over Friday and Saturday. The Friday morning session will begin with a prayer service led by His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, followed by His Eminence's opening address. The meeting will then begin with the selection of officers and the presentation of reports from the various department heads of the Archdiocesan departments and institutions: Public Affairs, Finance, Stewardship, Print & Digital Media, Religious Education, Inter-Faith Marriage, Hellenic College/Holy Cross, and St. Basil's Academy. The various committees of the Archdiocesan Council will then meet in separate concurrent sessions to conduct their business and prepare reports to be delivered on Saturday before the entire Archdiocesan Council.

On Friday evening His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon will conduct the Service of Salutations to the Theotokos for the First Friday of Lent at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity starting at 6:00 p.m. The Council will conclude its meeting on Saturday afternoon, February 27.
