Press Conference on the Future of Greek Education

New York, NY - His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, will hold a Press Conference at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday May 27, 1999 together with members of the Archbishop's Commission on Greek Language and Hellenic Culture at the Archdiocesan Headquarters at 8 East 79th Street, New York City. Together with the Archbishop, the Commission will be presenting their investigative report, based on public hearings around the country and surveys conducted throughout the parishes of the Archdiocese.

The Commission has been chaired over the past year by Professor John A. Rassias of Dartmouth University and the "Rassias Foundation" and is comprised of thirty members who are specialists in education, linguistics, and the social and political sciences, as well as leading Greek-American figures.

Following the Press Conference, a reception for the members of the Commission and the Press will be held, lasting until 12:30 p.m. Members of Press who expect to attend are asked to notify the Press Office (212/774-0283) and apprise the Office of their intention.
