Spyridon appointed to US advisory committee on religious freedom

Archbishop of America Spyridon is participating in an advisory committee for religious freedom, established by US Secretary of State Warren Christopher.
The 20-member committee aims to propose ways of combating religious persecution around the world. Its presidency has been assumed by the US State Department's under-secretary for democracy, human rights and labor issues.
The committee is comprised of representatives from the largest religious groups in the United States, as well as academics and those whose religious beliefs are a target for persecution abroad.
