MEMORANDUM

TO: Fr. Alkiviadis Calivas, President
FROM: Fr. George Dion Dragas, Dean
DATE: September 5,1996
SUBJECT: The case of Dr. Holmberg (your Memo Sept. 4, 1996)

________________________________________________________________

I am totally puzzled with your brief statement about Dr. Holmberg. I was under the impression that her appointment in the School of theology is permanent. How could it be otherwise, since she teaches all these fundamental core courses in our syllabus, and she does this so successfully, as I constantly hear from the students?

I have registered many students who are to follow her courses. How could she be excluded from the Faculty? Neither her academic stature nor her position in the syllabus warrant such a discriminatory act. Professionally, I cannot exclude her from the Faculty.

In any case, I talked to her and elicited a written response from her, which I enclose herewith. I became even more amazed with your statement when I read in Dr. Holmberg's response that she has taught NT Greek in the School of Theology for 17 years!

cc. Prof. Evie Holmberg
