Fund Established for Presbytera's Family

NEW YORK — Archbishop Spyridon has announced that a trust fund has been set up for the family of Presbytera Linda Davis of the Diocese of San Francisco who was killed in a car accident over Labor Day Weekend.

Her husband, Father Matthew Davis, and children Christina and Philip also were in the car and sustained serious injury.

"We are all sharing in the hurt and pain of his loss," His Eminence said in a letter to the clergy of the Archdiocese. "As brothers who share in the one priesthood of Christ and devoted presvyteres, the joys of one are the joys of all, and the suffering of one brother or sister, is shared by all.

"I appeal to you this day and in the days to come to remember in prayer the family of Father Matthew. Pray to the Lord that He receive the soul of Presbytera Linda into the Kingdom of Heaven where the saints rejoice. Pray also, that the comforting and tender love of the Virgin Mary be felt by Father Matthew and especially the children, Christina and Philip. May the peace of the Mother of us all give them the comfort and the strength to bear the pain of this loss."

The Archbishop requested in the letter that offerings by check should be made out to the Father Matthew Davis Trust Fund, to the Archdiocese, care of the Office of the Archbishop.
