Father Frank Marangos Named Director of Religious Education

NEW YORK - His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon has announced the appointment of the Rev. Dr. Frank Marangos as Director of Religious Education, effective June 1, 1997. The Archdiocese Department of Religious Education is located on the campus of Hellenic College/Holy Cross School of Theology, Brookline, MA.

Father Marangos, pastor of Saint Mark Church, Boca Raton, Florida since 1989, also has served as pastor of Annunciation Church, Pensacola; as assistant priest of the Annunciation Cathedral, Houston; as Diocese of Denver Youth Director and has been Religious Education Director of the Diocese of Atlanta since 1987.

A 1979 graduate of Holy Cross School of Theology, he received his B.A. from Hellenic College, studied at the University of Athens and received the degree of Doctor of Ministry in Christian Education from the Perkins School of Theology of Southern Methodist University.

Father Marangos succeeds Ernest A. Villas who retires after 15 years as Director of Religious Education. A long and faithful servant of the Church and the Archdiocese. Mr. Villas is a founding member and past national president of the Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA), first director of the Archdiocese Office of Church and Society and first Executive Director of the Order of St. Andrew.
