Archbishop Proclaims AHEPA Sunday

Most Dear Brothers in the Lord and Beloved Children.

In honor and memory of the 751h anniversary of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association ― AHEPA ― we are designating this Sunday, May 25, 1997, as AHEPA Sunday. As we continue to enjoy and bask in the light of the Resurrection, let us take a moment to reflect on the remarkable contributions that AHEPA has made to the life of our Holy Archdiocese and the Greek-American Community.

Whether it's through scholarship programs, or community action on every level of society, or fund-raising for the local parish, AHEPA has exemplified the very best in the Hellenic-American Community. AHEPA continues a long and noble tradition of support for excellence in education, with the full realization that the success of our communities, depends on the preparation and the training of each member. Those who have benefited from the AHEPA scholarships around our great country give sure and certain testimony to the love, support and beneficence of AHEPA.

On this Sunday, we remember with love, respect and gratitude the pioneers of AHEPA throughout our Holy Arch- diocese. Let us pray fervently for their eternal memory, and for those who continue their great legacy, wish them health, prosperity and spiritual fulfillment.

With much fatherly love,

† SPYRIDON

Primate
of the Greek Orthodox Church in America
