NEW YORK. — The Holy Synod of the Archdiocese of America met in a regular meeting on Nov. 19 presided over for the first time by Archbishop Spyridon.
Its agenda included the following: the enhancement and promotion of the Synod's work, formulation of synodical committees, the visit of the charter committee to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the revision of the Archdiocese charter, the restructuring of the Archdiocesan Council, inter-diocese cooperation to support the Archdiocese institutions, coordination with the dioceses to publicize their activities through the Orthodox Observer, the Internet programs of the Archdiocese and matters relating to SCOBA.
Each subject was discussed in depth and in detail. The Synod meeting was characterized as "constructive' and taking place in a spirit of brotherhood.
