Easter Service Broadcast from Ecumenical Patriarchate

Antenna Satellite transmitted the Resurrection Liturgy from the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople live on April 26.

ABC-TV re-transmitted the Liturgy, courtesy of Antenna Satellite, on Easter Sunday during their "Good Morning America-Sunday" show.

ABC's Agatha Malacos said that the network's request to broadcast the Liturgy was based on the newsworthiness of the story and its value in the seven million Americans that celebrate Orthodox Easter in the country."

This was the first time ever that the Resurrection Liturgy from the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople was transmitted live to the Orthodox world in the United States, Australia, Cyprus and Greece. Echo Star Dish Network subscribers, receiving Antenna's program, were able to enjoy the "Hristos Aneste," as delivered live by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, at 4:30 p.m. EST and again at a repeat at 11:30 p.m. EST.

| "It was a wonderful and important initiative," said Archbishop Spyridon. "The Orthodox world deserves to be able to see its Patriarch. We hope that this initiative will continue in the future."
