Archbishop Spyridon to Visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate

New York, NY - His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in the Western Hemisphere, will visit the Mother Church of Constantinople before Holy Week, April 7-10,1998.

His Eminence will convey the respects and Paschal greetings of the Greek Orthodox faithful of America to His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and the Most Reverend Members of the Holy and Sacred Synod.

During his stay, His Eminence will have discussions on a number of issues, including:

  • the upcoming stopover in the United States by His All Holiness on his way to Canada;
  • the ongoing dialogue with the Old Calendarist Greek Orthodox in the United States;
  • the ongoing ecumenical and inter-faith dialogues;
  • the recent progress in the Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA);
  • the upcoming Clergy-Laity Congress in Orlando, Florida;
  • recent events surrounding the growth and development of the Greek Orthodox Church in the Americas.
