Greek Archdiocese consecrates two new auxiliary bishops
Bishop Dimitrios
NEW YORK, NY [GREEK ARCHDIOCESE] — The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America recently consecrated two new bishops to serve as auxiliaries to His Eminence, Archbishop Spyridon.
His Grace, Bishop Dimitrios [Couchell] of Xanthos was elevated to the episcopacy on May 31 at Saint George Cathedral, Philadelphia, PA. Since the 1980s Bishop Dimitrios headed the Florida-based Orthodox Christian Mission Center. He also served as President of Syndesmos, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth and has held various other positions within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
His Grace, Bishop George [Papaioannou] of Komanon was elevated to the Episcopacy June 13 at Saint George Church, Bethesda, MD, where he had served as pastor for 27 years.
