Archons' National Council ask for enriching dialogue
and reason among the faithful
AN OPEN LETTER FROM THE ORDER OF ST. ANDREW
ARCHONS OF THE ECUMENICAL PATRIARCHATE
The Order of St. Andrew Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate extend to all members of our Holy Orthodox Church their greetings and best felicitations on the occasion of the Feast of Feasts, the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In this Paschal season of love and the forgiveness that dawns from the Empty Tomb, we call on all members of our beloved Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America to re-dedicate themselves to the ministry of Christ - a ministry of love, forgiveness and unity - as exemplified by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, and Their Eminences and Graces, the Metropolitans and Bishops of the Holy Eparchial Synod. We acknowledge the hierarchical nature of our Church as the essence of our Greek Orthodox faith. We affirm the participation of our fellow lay people.
As Archons of the Ecumenical Throne, our duty is to uphold the unity and integrity of the Mother Church of Constantinople with our beloved Archdiocese, and to advance those causes which benefit both.
We express our hope that Archons of the Order would refrain from any initiative that would adversely impact or politicize the good order and well being of the Church.
We ask that all of our brothers and sisters in Christ embrace this Holy season of the Resurrection as an opportunity to bring peace and healing to our Archdiocese. Instead of publicity and letter campaigns, let us seek an enriching dialogue that fosters fellowships and reason among the faithful.
Let us focus on the most important message of this season, that Christ is Risen, and that for all of us there can be a new beginning.
