PRESS RELEASE
[ “The Lonely Path of Integrity” to be presented in New York ]
The authorized biography of His Eminence Spyridon, former Archbishop of America, “The Lonely Path of Integrity” by Justine Frangouli-Argyris, will be presented in New York on June 11, 7pm, at Terrace on the Park in an open cocktail reception.
The event is being organized by Exandas Publishers in cooperation with a NY coordinating committee chaired by John Catsimatidis, former vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of GOA Archdiocesan Council. Other members of the committee include Eve Condakes, president of the National Philoptochos, Panikos Papanikolaou, publisher of the Greek American daily “Proini”, Savvas Tsivikos, president of the Pan-Cypriot Federation of America, and business-woman Georgia Kaloidis.
The book, which is a biographical approach to the personality of the former Archbishop of America, offers the reader a lively journey through his tumultuous tenure in America (1996-1999). It will be presented by the well known professor for Foreign Languages at Dartmouth College, and chairman of the Committee on Greek Education and Culture at the Archdiocese of America during 1998-1999, Dr. John A. Rassias.
All proceeds from the sale of the book at the event will go to enhance Greek education at Saint Basil’s Academy in honor of Archbishop Spyridon, who consistently advocated for Greek Cultural and Language Education with his oft-repeated: “There is no Orthodoxy without Hellenism”.
During the event, the author will offer brief remarks about her first book, which has been described as “innovative in ecclesiastical literature” by theologians and critics in Greece. Following the presentation the author will sign authorized copies by Exandas Publishers.
